The start of Summer Band is here, and the Band Staff is so excited!! We hope everyone has been having an incredible summer! Please read below for some updates heading into the week:
Final “SNOF” is tomorrow!
SNOF (“Sunday Night On the Field”) is a Frisco Band tradition each summer, when the band comes together to play games and have fun on Sunday nights. It’s a great way to make more band friends, and to get acclimated to warmer weather before marching season begins. Tomorrow’s final event would be especially helpful for all members to attend, to get ready for the days ahead outdoors! We meet from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Warren Sports Complex, near the tennis courts (Click here for the map link). Students are encouraged to bring basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, frisbees, etc… and be prepared to have fun! Water jugs are also recommended :)
Full-Band Summer Camp Social Event @ Frisco Athletic Center- Please RSVP!
Our first full-Band and Color Guard social event will be this Friday, July 26th, at the Frisco Athletic Center- just down the road from FHS! Click here for a map (students will need transportation to and from the event). We’ll be partying from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Bring your bathing suit!! For just $10, students will have access to the indoor and outdoor aquatic areas, our specially-reserved outdoor pavilions, and also be treated to PIZZA and DESSERTS courtesy of the Frisco Band Boosters! What better way to cool off after starting up marching band in the summer sun :) We are asking that ALL families RSVP (whether planning to attend or not), as soon as possible so we can get accurate head counts- click here to RSVP. We will collect $10 from those attending Wednesday at the afternoon session of Band Camp- CASH ONLY for this event, please! *If the entry fee presents a problem, please contact Mr. Simon- we’d love to have the entire Band and Color Guard together!
Summer Newsletter/ Full-year Band Calendar
The Frisco Band Summer Newsletter, which will includes a full detailed calendar for the year, should have arrived in your mailbox a couple weeks ago! Click here to access an online version of the summer newsletter for your convenience. Please especially note the required supplies page, and ensure that we all come prepared to camp with the necessary items to keep us cool and rehearsing at our best. Our student leaders have a two-day training camp Monday and Tuesday, then our percussion section gets a head start on Wednesday morning, and finally the rest of the Band and Color Guard convenes at 12:30pm Wednesday- we can’t wait!
Discount physical exams offered
One more reminder that ALL BAND AND COLOR GUARD MEMBERS need to have a completed physical exam form (included in your pre-registration materials- click here for additional copy) on the first day of camp, July 24th! See the handout included in the summer Newsletter, regarding a special discounted price for physicals being offered at Urgent Care for Kids in Frisco- for just $15!
We are really looking forward to getting everyone together and embarking on an incredible journey for 2019-20- see you all soon! Please contact us with any questions.
